My client is an independent multi-platform video game developer based in Northern Ireland. Their aim is to become recognised as a development house delivering high quality, original, funs games.

They are currently releasing a PC only title this year, and plan to release a cross-platform title the following year, with Xbox360 and PS3 platform development currently progressing on schedule. They are currently looking for a talented Level Designer to join the studio. Responsibilities -Design and build levels using a proprietary toolset (similar to the QERadiant/ DoomEdit format). -Work closely with the Design and Art Teams, building environments reflecting the Art Feel. -Work closely with Lead Level Designer, Game Designer, 2D and 3D Artists, Sound Designers. -Gameplay design to create innovative and immersive environments. -Take rough level layouts from a level designer and finish them with additional geometry, texturing, lighting, effects and gameplay scenarios. -Placing, triggering, and tuning entities (such as enemies, movers, and objects) to create fun, absorbing gameplay. -Actively seek review and input from team members. -Organize and maintain your workflow schedule. -You will be responsible for the level's performance, memory footprint and other technical considerations. -Precision and attention to detail with an emphasis on an optimized and clean geometry layout. Requirements -Solid familiarity with QERadiant or preferably DoomEdit type editors. -Experience in designing and building professional quality 3D game levels. -Experience collaborating with artists, programmers and other designers. -Passion for creating and playing videogames and broad knowledge of titles and game mechanics. -Team-oriented approach to game development. -Ability to provide and follow schedule estimates. -Technical aptitude and understanding of tools, techniques and processes of level design. -Solid understanding of game creation limitations/dependencies. -Great problem solving skills. -Able to work well within a team and take design direction.
