My client is an independent multi-platform video game developer based in Northern Ireland. Their aim is to become recognised as a development house delivering high quality, original, funs games.
They are currently releasing a PC only title this year, and plan to release a cross-platform title the following year, with Xbox360 and PS3 platform development currently progressing on schedule. Responsibilities Concept/Design of character and world models. Creation of top quality high and low res geometry within specified polygon budgets and constraints. Creation of normal, diffuse and specular textures for use in-game. Working closely with the Lead Artist, Content and Programming teams during production and implementation. Estimating and maintaining timescales and deliverables. Ensuring timely delivery and quality of work assigned on schedule. Requirements Thorough knowledge of various modelling techniques within 3DSMAX. Excellent spatial awareness & modelling skills. Ability and patience to create stunningly realistic models from concept art or photographs down to the last detail & deliver assets on time & to schedule. Keen eye for composition, form and colour. Good texturing skills – diffuse, specular and normal maps. Strong grasp of UV theory and unwrapping. Knowledge of optimisation of models and UV preservation for Level of Detail is desirable but training will be provided. Ability to work on own initiative. Familiarity with the constraints of modelling for real-time interactive platforms. Strong communication skills and comfortable with taking direction/constructive criticism. Understanding of game production challenges. Strong artistic and creative skills. Desirable Published and well received game title on PC or console. Experience working in a creative production environment. Passion for games and the challenges of realistic modelling. 3rd level qualification in a 3D modelling related discipline. Technical insight. Experience of some/all of animation, particles, shaders, special effects, lighting and rendering.
