My client is small company based in the North East. Their innovative and interesting project has started to gain publicity and has resulted in them securing significant investment.
Planned expansion has lead to them looking for a web developer
You will have several years experience working with PHP and web applications, you are a team player, but you are still able to work independently. You have excellent communication skills and urge to produce stable and reliable applications. You have a good understanding of relational databases and SQL. You should be comfortable working in a *nix environment and with a command line interface. Source control should be as obvious as breathing for you, so should XHTML compliant code. You are passionate about what you do, know who Joel Spolsky, John Resig and Rasmus Lerdorf are and know that HipHop is more than a music genre.
As a member of our web team you will be able to shape and enhance our web application, you'll be involved in all the steps from design to implementation and deployment of new features, functionality and applications. The web team are responsible for developing both end user web experiences and internal tools and services, we are working closely with the game development team and provide them with interfaces and web services on demand.
Required knowledge
- PHP 5+ experience
- Object Oriented Programming (OOP) using PHP
- Javascript
- SQL / MySQL
- HTML and CSS
- Apache HTTP server usage and configuration
- Basic *nix administration
- Database design and management
- Flash / Flex
- Zend Framework
- Source control tools such as GIT and or SVN.
- Experience with Test driven development and Unit testing
